Zhoda Investments’ wholly owned subsidiary Black Island Winery has won a tender of wines made from the grape babic at Systembolaget, the Swedish retail monopoly. The wine will be available in 115 stores starting 1 December this year.
“Our winemakers Juraj and Igor are, in our humble opinion, best of the best when it comes to the grape babic, so we are very excited to have won this tender. All of Sweden’s babic lovers will now be able to buy the wine in the physical stores of Systembolaget”, says Robert Karlsson, CEO of Zhoda Investments.
The tender was launched to broaden the range of wines sold in Systembolaget’s physical stores. Testament Winery’s and Black Island Winery’s wines have previously been available in the ordering segment, where the they can be ordered at Systembolaget’s website. The winning wine is guaranteed at least 9 months on the shelf in the physical stores. Initially the wines will be available in 115 stores all throughout Sweden.
A total of eleven wines participated in the tender. The winner was decided through a blind tasting where three representatives from Systembolaget participated.
The fact that Systembolaget included the local Dalmatian grape in a tender testifies to the new strong interest in the region’s over two-thousand year old wine tradition, wide spectrum of exciting grapes and innovative winemakers.
